Differentiation of Instruction in the Classroom

This is an editorial exploration into the birth of the theory and practice of differentiated instuction. I opine that what is claimed to be addressed by this allegedly "new" thinking and pedagogical approach, is neither adequately addressed in most cases, nor new. What would be new is a long-term commitment to it, unswayed by trend, fed by data.

Is it a still a conspiracy theory when the entire plot is exposed on the front page of the Sunday NY Times? Today’s story blows the lid off the myth that television is an any way fair and balanced, in any way trustworthy, and in any way real news.

As we draw near to the end of the first visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States, we can begin to reflect on the themes he addressed. My reflections are rooted in my own perspective as a Seventh-day Adventist pastor who, nonetheless, spent many years as a member and a lay leader within the Catholic Church. By Mark Rhoads Southern Illinois politicians used to be very fond of the sage axiom "Even a busted clock is right twice a day." I am not normally a fan of Jack Cafferty at CNN who is often a tiresome windbag. But when he is right, he's right. Supposedly ethnic Chinese in Los Angeles demostrating support for the current Beijing party line in demanding that Cafferty and CNN apologize for Cafferty's recent characterization of Chinese political leaders as the same old gang of "thugs and goons"

This article in the NYT talks about heart rate and exercise. The article makes it seem like you shouldn’t bother monitoring it. I just don’t agree. Seeing heart rate as the goal is a mistake. Obsessing over the number - any numbers unless you are a high-performance athlete - is ridiculous and counter-productive.
